Christian Rock: A contradiction or...
So what think you of this subject, hhmmm? Seems a little contradictory, given the nature of the music...

People can make music of any type, about any thing, the Chimpo Ondo is a perfect example, an old-style Japanese Ballad about penises(don't ask). Christian Rock certainly is possible. However, rock music started in the counter-culture movement, so pairing it up with Christianity does seem rather odd. However, it could simply be a sign that the old counterculture has now become mainstream.

Actually, it's part of the Christian "parallel universe" (to use a term that Newsweek Magazine used for the phenomenon). They have their own segregated versions of everything, from music to clothes, books, videos, and even their own Christian Wrestling Federation.
It's not benign, and it's not self-contradictory. It's all about segregation, folks. There is a subcurrent of Christianity that simply does not want to come into contact with the rest of us, and that's why they make their own segregated versions of everything.

Yup, and then the Christian Rock artists start whining incessantly when public universities won't allow them to hold concerts on school property. Jack-offs.

What I was asking was, "Is Christian segregation such a bad thing?" Yes, Christian "rock" is fucking horrid. I'd sooner eat... something bad, than listen to that crap.Stormbringer wrote:Given the little bit of it that's become mainstream:Yes, It's a horrible thing!Raoul Duke, Jr. wrote:To Darth Wong: Question is, is that such a bad thing?

Yes. All forms of segregation are bad. No one will ever learn to get along with others if they put up walls like that and never get to know people of other creeds on a personal level.Raoul Duke, Jr. wrote:What I was asking was, "Is Christian segregation such a bad thing?"

Yeah, but their vote is simply where the segregation ends. I say segregate all the way. Give them "Holy Ballots" or something, instead of the real thing. lol
On a serious note... wow. Frankly, DW, I never expected to hear you say something like that. It seems so... un-Sithlike.

Back on topic;
I find crhistian rock to be a waste of my time. It's trying to be hard rock with christian lyrics. Not.
I have heard music that can be considered "christian" with a rock sound and not *try* to be rock that is actually quite good.
It's the poser wanna-be christian rock that I find annoying.

Erm... yeah. Segregation, by its very nature, creates inequity among portions of the population that are equally, or nearly equally skilled. It is a bad thing.Raoul Duke, Jr. wrote:To Darth Wong: Question is, is that such a bad thing?

I'd rather eat white arsenic than be forced to listen to christian rock. Rather problematic. A girl I'm interested really likes the stuff.Raoul Duke, Jr. wrote:Having had this horrible interrogation tool inflicted on me, I can attest to its effectiveness.
