Hypothetical: Adam and Eve TV program

Post by 2000AD »

OK, given what i've heard Christian groups are against nudity on TV.

So what if a big budget tv program did the story of Adam and Eve, totally giving lip service to Christianity, but had Adam and Eve naked and we could see everything on screen.

Would Christian groups still protest?

Yes they would. Just like if you did an all out graphic versions of some of the bibels stories. They'd go "You're attacking us! This doesn't reflect values we have today! Bible good, u bad! Adam & Eve weren't nude, they were just.... .. ... without clothes! STOP OPPRESSING ME!" and so on.

They'd think who-ever produced such a film/Tv show was making a mockery of their sacred book.

I was thinking the same thing, but instead, Mel Gibson made a movie about the Garden of Eden or something. On one hand, it is "as it was", it probably won't be meant for kids to see, and it's nothing the religous groups don't see from their spouses twice a year. But on the other hand, it's nudity, and nudity is eeeeeeevilll!

He seems to have a lot of credability with the Fundi folks-- especially his last two creations, Signs and Passion.

I just cannot see Mel doing a garden of eden thing and staying literal to complete nudity. He might do it in such a way that blocks the nudity but it's implied -- kind of like in Pearl Harbor the scene in the hopsital ward that made the graphic violence fuzzy.

I was thinking that the only way he could get an R rating like he did in the Passion with sexuality alone is if at one point, there's actual nudity, even if it's a 2-second flash of Adam's dong at the beginning. It really makes you wonder if they've made a porno flick based on the Garden of Eden yet.

Are you kidding me? Do you have any idea how many pornos have been made about the Creation? Jesus 8-inch vibrating Christ, I can't walk through my local nudie-mag shop without tripping over a cum-crusted half dozen of those fucking things.

Back on topic, a Zeferelli-esque Genesis movie wouldn't be a bad idea, I don't think. Really, I'm of the opinion that we should let Ol' Mel make a movie about the whole damned OT, just to show the world exactly what it is those fine upstanding Christians believe.

Umm...Old Testament is Judaism, as well. Christians just kinda hijacked it, tossed out most of the rules while keeping the ones they liked, and added on another book with a "follow us or go to Hell" clause.

And yes, granted there's some nasty stuff in the Old Testament, but by and large the Jews seem to have realized that you can follow the good rules in the religion, uphold the Covenant, and not become psychopaths...granted, we did have a few thousand years of wandering and persecution to help us realize it.

Let's see, we have several Exodus ones (though there should be a remake of Charleton Heston's version where Moses kills the idol worshippers with a shotgun or something). We're already talking about Adam and Eve here. There's been several low budget Noah movies. One on Sodom and Gammorah would be rather...um....yeah....

Then, of course, there's Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I don't know. Something tells me that it would be hard to make a big budget movie based on Leviticus.

Why do I think this could be an interesting "survivipoor type program"?

I think there's also a 60's Italian Hercules-rip off type movie about Sampson.

i just looked it up on SAB, and it doesn't say exactly how many. After Cain & Abel, it just says, "sons & daughters".

Monica Bellucci would be my first choice.

If the bible was to be made into a movie....besides the fact it would be way to long.... it would be rated NC-17 according to what ive read. :D
