What's your opinion on Kevlar?
New York City has outlawed Kevlar for private citizens, and here
in Maryland, you have to go through a background check to even
buy it here.
Anyway, a few years ago, a rapper named Ol' Dirty bastard, who
survived a robbery after being shot 6 times, was arrested because
he was 'caught' wearing a vest in NY.
The man, 'rapper thug' or not....was SHOT 6 TIMES for crying out loud,
he of all people should not have gotten flak for it.

I think body armor is illegal here in CA too. Or mabye its illegal for people with criminal records. Im not sure I couldnt find anything on the net.
I have mixed feelings. After the bank shoot out, I can understand why police agencies dont want it out there. But after the LA riots where society basically breaks down, why shouldnt I be able to have vest just in case?

I think that's wrong. It is used as a defense of the people. I the police are defending the people, they are now banned from protecting them by using Kevlar (as a public resource).

Why the fuck do you need kevlar? If you live is so dangerous that you need kevlar, you've done something seriously wrong! God damn. What's wrong with you people?
"I'm too fucking scared to leave my house without full body armor and a fucking bazooka."
You're almost three times more likely to die of Malignant neoplasms of genital organs (what the FUCK is that? No, no, no. Don't tell me, I don't want to know.) than you are of being killed by someone.
LIFE IS NOT THAT DANGEROUS! YOU DON'T NEED BODY ARMOR TO GET THROUGH THE DAY!

I'd like to see YOU tell this to a 7-11 clerk with a STRAIGHT FACE, asshole!
7-11 clerks have a high fatality rate because the corporation won't let
them carry a shotgun under the counter, and because of corporate rules
that the stores have to store all their money in a time lock safe
after dark = lots of dead 7-11 clerks.
Also, I'd like to see you tell postal carriers who have to work in
high-crime areas.....or just about EVERYONE who works in the
inner city, why you do not want them to possess something that
will allow them to survive a botched robbery attempt..

I say that whoever made that rule was thinking, "NO! We can't let the citizens have kevlar! We're the police so we're the only people who can possibly be authorized to weat kevlar! It's all ours! OURS!!!!!!"
Or something like that. Superiority complex, possesiveness, etc, maybe.

I think the cops want to outlaw Kevlar so the perps can't use them.
Their thinking must be the people are going to get hurt anyway, so let them, cos without body armor we can kill the perps faster and rpevent them from going on to kill maim mand slaughter.

Wow, Houston, a city of nearly 2,000,000 people have, on avereate 8 convenience-store deaths per year. Roughly 1100 people are murdered on the job (and this includes cops who are allowed to wear kevlar.)
More people get Legionellosis per year. Roughly 4 times as many people drown. You should be fighting for the right to wear snorkles, not kevlar. Twice as many get Cryptosporidiosis, one third as many get Typhoid.
More people get killed in automobile accidents going to work than get shot at work. More people are killed in accidents at work then are murdered at work.

Because you can drop sombody you could never fight hand to hand with. Just because the perp is not dead doesnt mean the gun was ineffective, if your firing in self defence. Many wounds will leave a person on the ground unable to do anything, but will not be fatel until they bleed out. The chances of that happening tend to be low because of the excellent medical care thats close at hand in the West.C.S.Strowbridge wrote:Cops will be allowed to wear kevlar. 2.) Do you wear a life-jacket everywhere you go? Do you carry tick spray? NO YOU FUCKING DON'T! Cause it would be a waste of time, just like wearing a bullet proof vest. The only people who need bullet proof vests are cops and criminals. And when you buy a kevlar vest you only make matters worse.
Think about it this way, you buy a gun to protect yourself from criminals. Statistically speaking, the first criminal that gun will encounter is the one that steals it from you. 300,000 guns are stolen every year. And if you don't think Kevlar vests are going to be a main target for theives you're fucking nuts.
But no, you're not thinking long-term, or at all. You want that Kevlar vest for the 0.00367% protection is offers.

2) Tick spray and a life vest are a hell of a lot more inconvenient to wear than Kevlar, which can be worn under normal clothes without it getting tin the way too much. If you value your life and you live in a danger zone you WILL wear Kevlar. That 0.00367% could be the difference between capping the fucker between the eyes and lying dead in the gutter.
And whether or not the gun belongs to you the Kevlar STILL protects against it.
