Recently a Falun Dafa Practicer (will be further referred as Falun Dumbfucker) threw a link to a Chi-Gong study on a forum I often visit. After criticising it and some debating later it was clear that the dumbfucker was losing the debate and finally he whined "Why don't you ask the author?"
Now my question is, on what ground does the dumbfucker have to whine about this? The study was to establish a fact. The burden of proof of course is on the dumbfuckers. Do I really need to debate with the original author to fully debunk it?

Well, since it's Falun-bong you're talking about, they have the example of their leader to follow, which is basically to put their fingers in their ears and their heads in the sand whenever anyone comes even remotely close to actually applying a rational approach to studying their faith, so I doubt your chances of having a rational debate with them no matter what you try.

This is like talking to a scientologist on how silly the concept of a 'Thetan' is or whatever. This person's a bloody cultist. It shouldn't be surprising that if he believes in a religion that says there's a flaming wheel in his stomach, that he won't be the most rational person when it comes to doing research or believing 'facts'.Grand Moff Yenchin wrote:Recently a Falun Dafa Practicer (will be further referred as Falun Dumbfucker) threw a link to a Chi-Gong study on a forum I often visit. Well since I've dealt with quite a few dumbfuckers in the past I know how stupid they could become. My point was to demonstrate to the other people on the forum (it was a general discussion forum) that even their so-called "scientists" were doing bad science.
I was just wondering if the "I can't debate you so you go debate the original author" argument was valid.

The person who was originally debating has essentially conceeded, unless they actually go through the trouble to contact the author themselves and ask him/her relevent questions.Grand Moff Yenchin wrote: I was just wondering if the "I can't debate you so you go debate the original author" argument was valid.
