What do you think? The hell i'm talking about here is the standard christian hell, IE burning for all eternity, all alone.

Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, and a bunch of other massmurderers belongs in hell.

No. Say Hitler was in hell for 50 million years. That's being tortured every second of a year for everyone that died in WWII. But 50 million isn't even day one of an eternity. I don't think anyone deserves that.

A life time of earthly evil cannot compare to an eternity of punishment. The idea of hell is just used as a scare tactic, not a viable justice system.

No. Sinners who go to hell should have to pay for their sins in full, with punitive torture tacked on. This could be anywhere from a few days to millions of years depending on the magnitude of sins, but I don't think anyone except for Paris Hilton deserves eternal torture.

In my dad's place I'll say plagerisers.

At any rate, the people who are in hell forever would be the people who by their nature wish to be punished.

I'd say that most people should be allowed to reincarnate after a period of time, with Nazi's, mass murderers etc.. enjoying a period of time in hell greater than all creation. (And I know that's a logical paradox)

No, not really. An omnipotent and benevolent God should understand the circumstances of someone's life better than that person did. So, God should understand why they did it and what factors influenced their behavior. So, if God understands that it was a combination of low self-esteem, bad childhood experiences, and messed up brain chemistry, how can he see fit to damn someone for all eternity for things that aren't totally that person's fault?

Of course not. Except, obviously, god, who created it to provide infinite torment for his enemies, and inflicts it on his enemies.

No, I don't think anyone deserves ENDLESS punishment.

But why are most of the posts in the thread against hell while the poll is pretty close (17 for, 20 against)?

Christian-type hell, Shinto dark land-type hell, Urutsokidoji Legend of the Overfiend-type hell, what ever one belives in, I don't think anyone should deserve an eternal punisment. Even those born with depression and belive that the only fate that awaits them in the hereafter is hell shouldn't suffer for how they were born. It should be the punisment fitting the crime, then the soul is released. Islamic hell is actually like this, that even Infidels suffer only until their souls are cleansed, then they can achive paradise.

Blame it on my upbringing... but yes, there are some people who are just so evil that they deserve eternal punishment.

The people that deserve to go to hell are the people who can't really be considered logical like Fundamentalists, Overly regilous Zealots who interpret the slightest thing as sacriligous and Spammers, Virus makers, telemarketers who harrase people and use robotic callers, etc. People who make movies/videos games that are so bad that no one in their right mind would buy them. Also not to be prejudiced but some of the holdouts in Louisana during hurricane Rita after Katrina who might have died should go because they had seen the amount of death etc. and still refused to leave. If they survived and complain that they should have been forced to leave it just makes me want to bash my head into a wall.

No.

Evil people simply need to be segregated from society so they can no longer damage it. If that requires they be put down, as in the case of dictators, those who attempt mass murder, serial murder, or genocide, or incarcerated until they are rehabilitated or beyond further harm, so be it.

"eternal" punishment may satisfy some primitive revenge urge, but isn't practical or necessary.

What the fuck? People should go to hell for making bad video games, or for taking jobs as telemarketers when that's the best job they can get to support themselves and/or a family?

You're retarded.

I am not saying that the people who are making the calls should go to hell, what I am saying is that the people who think they can make money by calling people and bothering them are another story. I have nothing against those who take jobs to make the money to support themselves and their families.
As for the bad video games.. There are some that should even have been published at all. Ask Davis51 about a Seven day war or something. The games I was thinking about are those like a Firefighting strategy game and a Lawn mowing game and finally a Prisoner Tycoon. I mean really who would buy games like this???
Has gaming gone so low that we make games about watching over prisoners like there cattle and mowing lawns? :wtf:
