Yeah I heard of these fucks...and sorry something created more than 20 years before an incident and has no relation to a certain terrorist act does not make it somehow in connection.

And they had to bring up that Maryland Sniper BS(sorry I much prefer not to remember how all of Surburbia went into a hissy fit, the news had a field day annoucing every new tragedy is far greater than the last and the Police when cornered this genius...finds out all he was doing is driving around shooting random people)

Gah...personally I am trying to wonder about these people and going TTT is in obvious reference to a modern event...because Peter Jackson is making it such.

1: The Lord of the Rings trilogy was written 47 years before the events of 9/11
2: The Two Towers is the name of the second book.

Justify your hypocrisy in claiming that your organization includes fans of JRR Tolkien's work when in the same breath you call the non-surprising title of the film adapatation of the second book, 'hate speech', and the an attempt to 'capitalize' on the events of 9/11.

To put the question simply- are you insane? Pray tell, how could New Line Cinema POSSIBLY capitalize on September 11? If this bizarre reasoning were the case, do you somehow envision the intent to be that people will see a fantasy movie entitled Lord of the Rings and somehow think they are going to walk into a film abotu September 11? You have slandered a film maker for doing nothing more than faithfully adapting a classic work of literature that predates any of your hyperactive sensitivies by half a century.

This would be taken to mean by any sane person that you think Peter Jackson had malicious intent pertaining to the WTC attacks when he decided to make this film years before the WTC attack even occured- and is even now gleefully rubbing his hands like a villain at the though that he is offending a handful of self-important, oversensitive kooks who think the world revolves around them and every creative enterprise must bow (retroactively, no less!) to their hyperactive emotions.

Your organization is entirely bereft of common sense, and is obviously ignorant. Maybe you think JRR Tolkien wrote The Two Towers in 2002, that's the only way your awesome arrogance, stupidity and vile slander could even begin to be considered an honest mistake.

Its even worse then you think. LOTR TTT premiered in New York and 99% of New York's Elite who show up to the special screenings SNUBBED the movie because of its "connection".

What really got me was one idiot who said "I can't believe how people are just ignoring the fact that the movie is connected to the World Trade Center."

My response was something along the lines of. "I don't remember 747s slamming into Orfak or Barador (sp)."

You do realized that the book was written almost fifty years before the Septmer 11th attacks. To change it would a ludacris example of historical revisionism.

And since when should we sanitize everything to avoid remembering? Should we forget the horror of that day simply because it makes some people uncomfortable? Hell no! If we can't remember or discuss it then those people are nothing, the heroes of that are forgotten.

In short why rewrite history that has only the vaguest connection to historical events that should not be forgotten or buried anyways?

I can't pull up any domain ownership info to trace this to any prankster, so I have to go with one of two things:

1) No one could possibly be this PC-stupid, the site has to be a joke.

2) 3,600 logically impaired people have signed the online petition to get the name changed. Surely, at least one of them has figured out how to post a website.

Saw this when the Two Towers was annouced...some PC-wshy washy little runts set up something like this so they could scream 'Blasphemy!!!'

Saddest part is that how many fell for this shit(as for the 99% of NY elite snubbing it...I dunno is this supposed to make us 'peons' feel bad about watching the movie...or to show us that elite does not equate to brains?)

My brother has been FDNY for 13 years and lost a lot of friends 9-11. He says these people are the ones exploiting it for their own purposes. They get to draw attention to themselves and make themselves crusaders.

Obviously fake. The comment about Phone Booth is what clinched it for me, since as far as I know Fox decided to delay the release on their own because it got a bad reaction from focus groups after the Maryland attacks started. To my knowledege, there is no group that urged Fox to do that, so I suspect this site is nothing more than flaming indictment of liberal over-sensitivity.

As to the petition's 3,600 sigs, I did do some looking, and out of the 1,300 I got to look at before it apparently went down, I counted maybe 117 that were possibly genuine (ie. not an obvious fake name and not using the comments to talk about the stupidity of the petition's author). So, that gives me a little hope that this is a joke.

If it is a joke, it's not a very well done one.
