Need a particular bible verse...

Post by LordShaithis »

I know there's a verse which basically says "If you're preaching in a town and they don't want you, leave." I'd like it for slapping around a really irksome fundie on another board, but I can't find the exact number for it.
If Religion and Politics were characters on a soap opera, Religion would be the one that goes insane with jealousy over Politics' intimate relationship with Reality, and secretly murder Politics in the night, skin the corpse, and run around its apartment wearing the skin like a cape shouting "My votes now! All votes for me! Wheeee!" -- Lagmonster

Perhaps you're looking for Matthew 10:14. Here it is in part of the context:
11And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.

12And when ye come into an house, salute it.

13And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

14And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

15Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

16Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
In other words, if people don't listen to you, just depart quietly and take comfort in their eventual damnation. This may appeal to fundies.

Matthew 10:14-15 - "And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city."

Mark 6:11 - "And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city. "

Luke 9:5 - "And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them."

Are you just trying to get the guy to leave you alone or something?
