Ok, I just got a post from my mom, that mentions that Mars will be closer to us later in august then it will be anytime in the next couple hundred years. I am just looking for the exact date and best viewing times, of our favorite angry red planet...

I think that's mostly a spam e-mail that's goin around... it's nothin special, if anything

Yeah Mars was at it's closest to Earth in 2003, and it isn't going to be that close again in a long time, that is the reason there were so many probes launched to Mars at about that time.

A side note, it wasn't the size of the full moon then, and certainly won't be now.
