* 26 June: First B-36, an A model, delivered to 7th BG at Carswell AFB.
* 19 October: Curtis E. LeMay becomes CINCSAC.
* 9 November: SAC HQ moved from Andrews AFB, Maryland to Offut AFB, Nebraska.
