A song I was recently listening to used the phrase 'assorted sizes war' and I'm not sure what it means.

Part of me seems to think it refers to the US V Mexico war, but I'm not certain.
Googling the phrase turned out useless, so any help as to which war the phrase means would be appreicated.

If you're referring to the tune by the Rainmakers, it doesn't likely refer to the Mexican-American war.
The people wanted power and reputation galore
So they became a bunch of bullies
In the Assorted Sizes War
And they sailed around the global block
Looking for some heads to knock
And most of them came home heroes
Heroes in a box
I take it to mean "War with the small and the big". Funny thing the wars with the "small" didn't go all that well, come to think of it ('Nam, anyone?)...

Especially considering that the David against Golliath factor was inverted by the time of the US-Mexican war, the Mexican Empire being the (sleeping, Catholic, praying) giant.
