August Nominations

Post by Capsaicin »

Previous thread deleted due to governors doing the nominating when they are not allowed to do so.

Senators, whom do you nominate?

I second the nomination of Pick. Her contributions to the board, while not entirely in the area of debate, have been significant and positive, and she has proven herself a consistent and valuable member of the community.

Ummmm, we voted and amended the rules to allow governors to nominate WAAAYY back. Rob just never got around to editing the "power, perks, etc" thread in the aftermath of that vote.

My mistake. Apologies to Edi and LadyTevar.

Is there anything else in the rules that is not up to date? This seems like a fairly important thing to remedy.

No problem, Capsaicin, it happens.

So, I'm nominating Spin Echo again. But damned if I can be bothered to dig the posting history back up right now. Later maybe. Any seconds?

Thirded for Spin Echo. She's one of those underrated posters who fully deserves the recognition of being a Senator.

I again nominate Imperial Overlord, who like Pick has contributed greatly to the board in both his prolific fiction, and his quiet debates in science and fantasy.

If we'd kept it to just Pick and Spin, it could have been a chickfight, possibly settled by Jell-O wrestling. :D

Seriously, though, we need to update that rule thingy about the Governors & nominations, so as to avert future confusion.

Two quick thoughts:

1) I'll second Imperial Overlord

2) I'm working on re-writing the "power" section of the power and perks thread. When I'm finsihed I'll just send it over through the Admins fr a quick review as they are (by rule) serving in place of the Chancellor. The other reason obviously being any changes i do make I don't want to have the accusation that I'm aggrandizing the Whip position.

I would like to remind my fellow Senators that nominations are not to be made in a vacuum: it is the job of the nominating Senator to provide links to exemplary debating on the part of the nominee.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

I was going to have a moment of insanity and nominate Stark, but I like the idea of Imperial Overlord way better. I've had a number of fun conversations wiht him and he's always contributed positively to threads I've started/participated in (even if they ARE mainly 40K ones.. :P)

I'll see if I can find an example, but it will probablty take some time and be very geeky.

Had to wade through Imperial Overlord's massive collection of stories in FanFic, and finally had to ask him and Nitram both for help finding these:

Quick reminder once we've got a nomination and a second everyone can just hold off commentary until its time to vote, leave the thread open for more nominations should they be forthcoming because too many thirds fourths etc just discourage new nominations.
