most currupting sound track work

Post by The Yosemite Bear »

you know sometimes a movie uses something previously known before in its soundtrack and it changes the whole way you look at it.

the firefighters in Wilder Napalm singing every single song about fire/burning

a clockwork orange and "Singing in the Rain"

The cop loosing his ear while stuck in the middle with you playied (resibiour dogs)

so many others.

so what movies has completly altered the way you precieve a song?

Journey's Open Arms. It plays during the scene in Heavy Metal where the cabbie is banging that chick who's just using him. It was the first time I'd seen an animated sex scene so that song is associated with that scene in my head.

So, incidentally my sister chose that song to be sung by our cousin at her wedding.

Singing In the Rain I always associate with Malcom MacDowell kicking someone. :)

Sea of Love I always think of a naked Ellen Barkin all over Al Paccino.

An American Werewolf in London
Bad Moon Rising, Blue Moon, Moon Dance (specifically the scene where David Naughton joins Jenny Agutter in the shower).

The right version of Ode to Joy tends to remind me of Die Hard when they open the vault.

Ride of the Valkyries I always think of Apocolypse Now and a fat viking lady from a Bugs Bunny cartoon for the end. :)

Blue Danube -- the spaceship docking sequence from 2001. My favorite part of that movie.

Thats the example that sticks out best in my mind
For example, suppose I wrote a book that within 30 years of the moon landing millions of people could be duped by bad science and endless hectoring into believing that it didn't happen... nah, can't do that, too unbelievable for a fantasy novel, right?--Terry Pratchett, The new Discworld Companion

yeah QT has a way with music...

Dick Dale and the Deftones will always be associated with Amanda Plummer and Chris Roth with me, despite how much they keep trying to use it in SUV commercials....

I just remembered one of the most memorable ones for me.

From Brian DePalma's Body Double

Frankie Goes to Hollywood performs Relax in what is essentailly a porn music video. :D Near they end of the song when they say, "huh!" the main character blows a load into Melanie Griffin's character (Holly Body).

I'm pretty sure there are actual members of the FGtH in the video as well.

I remember that one,

What is it with Frankie and porn at dance clubs they did the same thing with "Welcome to the Pleasure Dome" in basic instinct...

oh well "Dpm Geiovanni" is still associated with Saliari plotting Mozart's demise....

This is a cool thread, but I can't currently come up with anything meaningful to contribute.

Apocolypse Now : Not Valkaries as someone has already mentioned, but (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones. I always picture Lawrence Fishbourne doing that crazy dance.

Ha! Yes! I have to me-too that one, a friend and I often reference that bbbbbbbad part, as well as the general terminator theme by hitting something (usually a table or a leg) as the percussive part.

American Woman makes me think of Heather Graham doing her dance number in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me.

I know there's a version of the song that Lenny Kravitz did for the movie but I think the movie also has the original version by The Guess Who.

When I hear The End, I always think of the Apocalypse Now parody that "Animaniacs" did. Marlon Brando's character was played by a Jerry Lewis-type guy. It was pretty awesome, at least when I was in third grade.

Good Vibrations from Vanilla Sky. OK movie, but I'll never be able to look at the song the same way again.

"I Can't Stop Loving You" by Ray Charles, used near the end of Metropolis.

Though it was the first time I had heard the song, it still connects with that film.

But Evangelion still has made more of an impact, musically.
