I know. I must be special. :D

As I grew up, I found that IM became more a tool to set plans to do stuff as opposed to just chat. Unless it was with someone that moved away.

Can't be really be bothered with IM any more. Trying to spend more time outside & talking to real people.
After all, this is completely straightforward. What could possibly go wrong?

THIS LOOKS LIKE A JOB FOR EMERGENCY PANTS!

No, I'm not on drugs. I'm like this all the time.

Use AIM and MSN heavily, use ICQ too but I haven't gotten it back up since my reformat about a week ago.

Anyway, many people here seem to have IM accounts. Do any people not use IM?
I don't IM at all.

More than 6 or so years ago I did the IM (back then we called it AIM, and it was brand spankin' new!) thing, but I mostly used ICQ. Does anyone still use it? Is it even around anymore? I have no idea. But I do remember that it was out first.

I use ICQ when I'm logged into Ultima Online, but that's about it. (It beats standing at the city bank, wondering if so-and-so is even on or not.)

I used to but stopped becuse i couldn't go online without a bunch of annoying people trying to talk to me. When i set it so that it would appear as if i was offline it meant i couldn't talk to people i wanted to talk to as if i did it would make me appear online therefor the idiots appeared.

I use MSN to talk to some of my closest friends, i don't like the phone, so its kind of a substitute. I either use IM or txt messages to talk to people remotely these days.

I used to use AIM and ICQ all the time, but now I don't bother, mostly because the only time I think to go on is around 4AM, and then nobody I want to talk to is awake. Lousy daytime people.

I'm down to occasional use (only to video chat with a friend in California and maybe catch my brother surfing the web at particular hours) of IM programs (specifically iChat). My best friend and his wife don't use an IM client at all.

I have a MSN account that I always use whenever I log on to the internet. Tried AIM but did not like it.

The closest thing i have to an IM client is the digichat clients provided by White Wolf games to get my roleplaying fixes. Beyond that i almost never touch the things. just don't have any real use for 'em i suppose.

Which is the one that makes a noise like a retarded muppet shouting "oh-oh!" when you get a message? I hate that one.

Actually, that's ICQ that makes that stupid "uh oh" sound. It is also one of the few IM with a typing noise for some strange reason.

I have msn open when i go on the net, usually, and I just leave it open. If any real life friends need me, I talk to them via that, and a few odds and sods i've picked up on my internet adventures. I also have the yahoo chatroom atheist vs christians 1 open most the time too, since it's a bastard to get into and i know loads of the chatters from my internet use in the past.

I occasionally go on aim to see if anyone's in the sdnet chatroom, but they rarely are.

All of my college buddies have MSN so thats how i communicate really, who needs a voice? :D Come to think of it, about 50% of everyone else I know uses MSN too and since I have them all on my list there's always someone to talk to... then I have quite a few people i know from forums etc etc on my list... I wouldn't want to be without IM anyway.

and on an unrelated note, ALI_G - whereabouts in manchester are you at :D

I've got AIM and MSN, and I usually have both open. I've got friends that only have msn, and friends that only have aim. My msn buddy list consists of only people from here or other boards though, since none of my friends irl know how much better than AIM it is.

I live in Stalybridge, which is on the east side. I'm actually in Sheffield at Uni atm, but I have my last example tomorrow so I'll be back home. :)

I haven't used IM since i left AOL for Comcast High-speed in May '03. I almost never used IM, except to talk to a few relatives.

Of course, that resulted in using Google Groups instead of AOL for the alt.tv.star-trek.* hierarchy, which resulted in me finding alt.startrek.vs.starwars, where i became a regular and ended up going here.

So, overall, a good thing.

Hell no. I spend too much time on this one message board as it is. If I used IM I'd probably forget to eat and rink and then die.
Don't hate; appreciate!

I know Stalybridge, indeed...

I live in the wonderful town of Middleton... indeed  About 6 miles North of the city centre if you don't know it. Bah, I'm starting at Manchester Uni in september, I'm too boring to move away.

Ah, yes, that. I very quickly turned that off.

Typing noises are only good for pissing people off during an exceptionally wordy Powerpoint presentation.
