If it's sentient pets you're talking about, then virtually any dragon. There are obvious advantages in transport and protection, if we could ignore the logistics of looking after one for the time being. I can't make up my mind which one, though. Here are a few choices:

Falkor (Neverending Story)

Draco (Dragonheart)

Ramoth (Pern)

Ruth (Pern - more manageable size)

Donkey's Girlfriend (Shrek)

Dulcy (Sonic)

I don't know enough about the D&D dragons to make an informed judgement, but the gold dragons sound appealing. However, I understand that they would be too proud and intelligent to be mere "pets", and the relationship would be reversed.

Hmm, green I think. I remember that Aayla Secura was blue. There was another twilik jedi during the meeting with Palpatine at the beginning of AOTC that was green.

Hey, if they're like skittles then why just have one? Bring the whole bag home and taste all the colors of the rainbow.

Remember, taste the rainbow. :D
