Ninja Short Film / Favorite short films?

Post by Dangermouse »

I saw this about a year ago at the Hi Mom Film Festival. Its a pretty short, but funny film shot on 35mm. It caught my attention since most films that come to festivals like these are usually 16mm / Super 8 / DV projects; its rare to see the expensive 35mm film, and I have kept my eye for it to show up on the web ever since.

So, what are you favorite short films/movies? For me, its Davey: Son of Goliath by Corky Quakenbush. The film is pretty funny and twisted parody of the biblical cartoon David and Goliath that transforms Davey into the Son of Sam. I wish I could provide a link to it, but I have been unable to track ithe actual film down. :(

I only ever run into short films by accident or if people point them out to me but of the ones I did run into my favorite would have to be Chase Me from the Mystery of the Batwoman DVD, closely followed by Rinnsteinpiraten (couldn't find any useful links-sorry).
Not that I'm particularly objective about Batman-related stuff, mind you.
'Next time I let Superman take charge, just hit me. Real hard.'
'You're a princess from a society of immortal warriors. I'm a rich kid with issues. Lots of issues.'
'No. No dating for the Batman. It might cut into your brooding time.'
'Tactically we have multiple objectives. So we need to split into teams.'-'Dibs on the Amazon!'
'Hey, we both have a Martian's phone number on our speed dial. I think I deserve the benefit of the doubt.'
'You know, for a guy with like 50 different kinds of vision, you sure are blind.'

Don't know about favourite, but one I saw recently that impressed me is Blue, which you can get on Bittorrent, available at www.legaltorrents.com under the Creative Commons lisence.

It's a 23 minute fully CGI amateur film, and whilst it's not quite Pixar, it's still an effective piece, witth some nice artistic direction and staging.
