You talking about the one on sd.net? That offers an input value of diameter. Or are you supposed to play around with that until a figure of 200GT shows up in one of the calculated values?

Doing a quick and dirty calc. using that calculator I got 58480m. diameter gets you a 200 gigaton fragmentation energy. I don't know if that is how you use it though.

b) Mess up local weather patterns. (Maybe spawn a hurricane?)

c) Cause humanity to ph34r the Star Destroyer.

d) Score major coolness points at the nightclubs (Hey babe, I've got a Star Destroyer, want to do naughty things to each other in my room for several hours?)

e) Convince the people owing you money to pay up (Uh... okay, Shinova, here's the money... Plus interest. Please don't kill me.)

f) Start the fundies off about how this is " a sign of the apocalypse" before they get obliterated by a second blast

g) Make most scientists around the woprld kick themselves for not taking SW seriously, except for Wong and Saxton, who will fold their arms, grin smugly and say "I told you so"

Look on the "Planet Killers" portion of the "Essays" page. First one is for a large asteroid. While not exactly equivalent to a turbolaser, a 10^5 MT asteroid should give you a pretty good approximation of what will happen.

You do realize that Loser099 is completely wrong, right? It's not clear from your post.

Basically a 200GT HTL would be close to a one-shot civilization killer but it wouldn't significantly restructure--let alone fragment--the victim planet.
