Subpar Sequels: What You loved and hated About: RoboCops 2/3

Post by THEHOOLIGANJEDI »

I'm gonna be posting every now and then about weak and even awful sequels to good movies series. What Did you like about them What did you hate about them? (be specific) Now We are going to discuss RoboCops 2&3

RoboCop 2:
What I Liked-
Cool action sequences.
Decent Followup on the First film
OCP being the dickheads that they are.

What I hated-
Having a kid as a Villain
The Whole Nuke drug concept. (Ugh damn the "say no" campaign)
Making The second RoboCop out of a Psycho, stupid concept to begin with.
Not Getting Basil Poledouris to Compose the second.
It wasn't serious enough, too campy in some places.

RoboCop 3:
What I Liked-
Jill Henessey, underrated actress, saved the movie in some places.
OCP and crew, again they were the assholes of the movie, but you gotta love em.
Basil Poledouris is back to composing this film.

What I hated-
No Peter Weller AAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
You can't replace actors!!!!
Killing off Ann Lewis. NOOOO!!!!
OTOMO or what ever you call that Ninja RoboCop, very poor conceived and explained idea. (probably a poor attempt to appeal to Ninja Fans, Like me)
Weak Story overall.

While these Two Film had great action sequences, I felt robbed and in the case or Robo 3 raped. Any one agree?

The only redeeming quality of RoboCop 3 is the fact that Malcolm MacDowell is the baddie and Murphy gets a rocket pack.

Never saw 3, dont remember much about 2 except for the part where Robocop bounces a round of the walk in refridgerator.

I liked the original Robocop. It was a good show. Its a bit dated now, something about the 80's brought out films where everyone is completely jaded.

Some good action. And there were some nice ideas that could have been done a bit more.

But basically bad.

Two wasn't that bad, but three was utter and unredeemable crap. Just plain horrifuckingble.

RoboCop 2 was awesome. The tongue-in-cheek, bloody, dark humor was just hysterical, like when the RoboCop 2 prototype comes out, says, "You are under arrest," and then proceeds to shoot all the scientists in the room and himself.

Having killed off Ann Lewis in RoboCop3 is what ruined the entire movie for me.

The first RoboCop movie was the best and the Directors Cut expands upon this.
"If the facts are on your side, pound on the facts. If the law is on your side, pound on the law. If neither is on your side, pound on the table."

"The captain claimed our people violated a 4,000 year old treaty forbidding us to develop hyperspace technology. Extermination of our planet was the consequence. The subject did not survive interrogation."

The end in Robocop 2, between Robocop and the bad guy stretchet out for too long, and ended up being a shoot-the-cops contest... Could have been much shorter with a better impact.

Robocop 3 just sucked!

I like the Robot vs. Robot of the second one. Reminded me of Clash of the Titans action. But that could just be me.

And I liked Jill Hennessy in the third one, and that's pretty much it. I love her as an actress and a hot babe, but she's been in some really bad movies.

Ah, RoboCop. His love for you is real, but he is not.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

I agree with what you liked. Plus I liked the commercial for the car "alarm" that electricuted the thief.

I thought the kid was a poor villian but I did like that he was a bastard. Plus, the whole idea of the kid as the main villian made me think, yep Frank Miller wrote this.

Not gettign Basil Poledouris as the composer was also a bad idea. His original theme for Robocop is great.

I never saw the third one.

I donated plasma today, and the clinic has TVs on every wall playing movies all day. Today they played Robocop 3, along with Austin Powers 2 and Ice Age while I was there.

BTW- That wasn't Malcolm McDowell. Can't remember who said it was.

You should add the kid who can reprogram anything and everything to your list of complaints.

I liked the end of Robocop 2 when the head of OCP and his flunkey were talking about the lawsuit that was going to come about because of the massacre. The flunkey goes "at least we don't have to worry about the dead ones." The President responds "They've got relatives, they always have relatives." LMAO at that.
"They're trying to kill me"
"They're trying to kill everyone"
"And what difference does that make"

Robocop 2 was fine, nearly as good as the original in most respects. Three was just utter crap. Not surprising, hell if the actor for the main character won't come back you know you've got a problem.

I agree with most, 2 = pretty good, 3 = steaming pile of dog bile
