What is the most depressing Anime out there?

For me, its Saiahu Heiki Kanojou. It's REALLY depressing, more so than Evangelion and Grave of the Fireflies COMBINED.

I haven't watched that, or Grave of the fireflies, so I wouldn't know. (damn my yowai-ness) but I felt that a pretty depressing anime was Now and then, here and there. A boy is brought into a world without hope, which is basically dead already, just that humans keep clinging on like cockroaches. He has to escape the prison-fortress he appeared in and find a way back.
Believe in the sign of Hentai.

I are no watch "Those WHo Hunt Elves". I are sorry I are cannot help jo0.
Why does May like explosions so much after being a prostitue?
We ARE thinking about the same May from Gunsmith Cats, right?

Well, maybe she's just got a lot of stress to get rid of. (Fuck me? Nosirreebob, fuck YOU! BOOOOOOM!)
I remember a scene in a GSC/007 crossover where Bond meets May:

Bond: "I've heard a lot about your ability to cause massive explosions."

May(semi-humbly): "Well, I am pretty good with explosives..."

Bond: "Who said anything about that?"

08th MS Team because the characters actually feel real. Nobody is stereotyped, everyone's three-dimensional, and then there is the godly might of Norris Packard and the Apsalus III. (Falls to knees in reverent worship)

Also, it fleshes out an aspect of the OYW nobody else did - the war on earth. I mean, sure, the GM saved the day, but how did the Feds do it?
I throw in a vote for 0080: War in the Pocket. It shows the true horrors of War, from a kid's point of view. It also has one of the bloodiest fight scenes in the entire series.

Yeah, 0080 was definitely one of the best Gundam series made. Very good characters.
