Latin Courtroom Phrase

Post by HemlockGrey »

I need one latin phrase commonly used in a courtroom. I have res ipsa locquitor, res judicata, sua sponte, and interalia

post hoc ergo propter hoc

just because it followed doesn't mean it was caused by.

Actually, the Latin is, "After this, therefore because of this" according to my Oxford Companion to Philosophy.

Other Latin phrases:

Voir dire has been mentioned (it's jury selection)
Habeas corpus
Prima facie
In flagrante delicto
Pro bono
Crassa negligentia

And many more!

All these phrases mean pretty much the same thing. It really doesn't make much of a difference. :D

*looks at Ando* Care to translate? (And Cyril, don't actually use this, 'k?)

Oscillans per locum virgultis obsitum,
Scindens folia ab arboribus,
Saeuum sum et futuo matrem me,
Scindens folia ab arboribus.
Duplicem pectorem penem sugens filium caniculae sum,
Quod Oscillans per locum virgultis obsitum sum,
Cum scapo me in manum me,
Sic heu amator matris uestrae,
Ego Cristum Collegem virum sum.
Amen.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Brought to you by the combined efforts of Ewo & Zaia. *both bow* :D

EDIT: Sorry, it's not exactly on topic, except for that whole Latin thing, but it was here, and Ando's there...and it's sort of related, and we were going through our scrapbooks, and...yeah. At least it's intelligent-sounding spam! :D

Lets see.

Swinging through the jungle.
Ripping leaves of trees.
I'm a mean mother fucker.
Ripping leaves of trees.
I'm a double breasted cock sucking son of a bitch.
Because I'm swinging through the jungle.
With my gland in my hand.
So hey mother fucker.
I'm a Christ College man!

Right, good job. Just so everyone's informed to the fullest degree, the female version (other than saying "Christ College woman") is as follows:

Sung by the poor boys quartet
Haven't had a slip up as yet
So take me down slllllowly.

El fin. :D
