Someone on the street isn't going to be wearing gloves, mouthguard and a cup. Forget the crap that you see on tv. People don't circle around each other. The attack begins when you are grabbed, shoved, put in a bear hug, headlock, etc. How will you get out of those situations? The best defense against a fight is to not get into one. Can you offer a better a defense than that?

When I've been sparring recently its been full contact... I still wear a mouth-guard though, I've broken teeth before, it just costs far too much.
