I believe my mom and brother were just watching it. I'm not really into football games on TV. It occasionally goes into overtime, pre-empting something, and then there's the post-game show, and then possibly the post-post game show, and then they resume normal programming, usually in progress.

Re: 'Canes go down!
I wouldn't say OSU beat Miami soundly. Their offense couldn't move the ball downfield the entire game. It was the five turnovers and a bullshit pass interference call at the end of the first OT that gave the Buckeyes their win. Oh well, the Canes will be back next year.Kelly Antilles wrote:Ohio State Buckeye's just beat Miami soundly in double overtime. Great job!
Yes they did. Played like crap too. Basically their normal big time bowl game level. Ok, they played slightly better than their usual big bowl meltdown but they sucked it up. In case you're wondering Iowa State lost their bowl game too.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Did the Iowa Hawkeyes lose?
I hope so...
Oh well, now you'll just have to put up with everyone getting pumped up for basketball (whether they're any good or not). Your dorm isn't too close to Carver is it?

My throat is still soar from the buckeyes game. And now the J-E-T-S are in the playoffs as favorites.
Damn my teams are good.

Re: 'Canes go down!
It's all part of the game, though. If Miami were to cry sour grapes because of a bad ref call, then they would have to decline any advantage to bad calls in their favor past and present. But they won't, just as no other team would do that.Galvatron wrote:I wouldn't say OSU beat Miami soundly. Their offense couldn't move the ball downfield the entire game. Yes, the Buckeyes were helped out by the call... but I sure didn't see that smokin' 'Cane offense that only needs less than 2 minutes to drive down the field and score. And turnovers by the defense are major coups for OSU, as they speak loudly about their ability to hamstring the vaunted Miami offense.
Heck, just the fact that regulation game play left a tie game, when the majority of sportscasters and the Vegas bookies were predicting Miami by 13 points, says one of 2 things to me: OSU was better than they thought... or Miami isn't as good as everyone thought they were.

The next day the Gazette (local paper) read "ORANGE CRUSH" on the front page. I preferred the Registers take. "MIAMI VICE" indeed.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Did the Iowa Hawkeyes lose?

Carry on.
Aw, c'mon you know she's right. The example may not cross exactly since professional basketball sucks much more ass in comparison to college basketball than Pro football does compared to college football but she's still right.

I love pro football. You will not change my mind. I don't give a rat's ass about any kind of basketball, though. (I don't hate it, I just don't pay any attention to it.)Tsyroc wrote:Aw, c'mon you know she's right. I like pro football too. I just like college better. There's a little more variety in how they play, although that has been changing as they all try to be mini-pro teams (no one runs the wishbone anymore). Still, I enjoy pro-football, without having grown up with a real local team to become hooked on. Instead I was much more into a college team that I grew up with and I still follow them, although not as much as I used to.IG-88E wrote: I love pro football. You will not change my mind. As far as basketball, I think that both college and pro have really hit the skids. The athletes are great but it's too much personal showboating and not enough teamwork and actual shooting for both. There are even more problems with pro basketball IMO. If I wanted to watch streetball I'd go down to the local park.
I don't watch much basketball at all. I catch a few games here and there, a few more college games than pro. I really don't get into it until around the NCAA tournament. Unfortunately college basketball is the *big* sport here in Tucson. Arizona has been pretty good for awhile so baskeball season is obsessed over by the annoying type sports fans and the local sports media. The football team has sucked ass for awhile and the Cardinals (up in Phoenix) are cursed.
