The one thing in all of grammar I absolutely refuse to touch. I never know when to use "its" or "it's".

Have you tried looking to the newsgroup alt.possessive.its.has.no.apostrophe ? They should know. The basic rule is that you use the apostrophe only when you are using it as a contraction of it and is. All other cases have no apostrophe.
