A bit of help.

Post by xammer99 »

I could use a bit of help if folks are willin. I got TOTALLY screwed by my apartment complex last night when they towed my car because I was parked across a line w/ no one around.

While I can certainly understand their point on doin it, that they do not take the time to maintain the parking lot is totally unfair. So here is how things went down...

1. I arrived home at 9pm, it was a dark night and there is no direct illumination of the area from artificial sources.

2. The yellow lines are incredibly faded and near invisible to see in the headlight of a car when it is pitch black out.

3. No one was parked around me for reference either.

4. Even in the photo the Towing company took, the yellow line is very difficult to see.

So, if could could help out with the following info bits...

A. What is the flash intensity of a pocket kodak digital camera? (Sorry, I do not have the model, but it'll be somethin cheap and inexpensive). I checked the Kodak site and couldn't find anything =(

B. I need a standard of comparison against say bright day light and a cloudy day.

C. I'll do my best to find mine for a standard car headlights on dim.

If y'all could help, I would GREATLY appreciate it.

Thank you very much!

I don't understand what you're wanting us to do. (Or how this is SLAM material). If it's legal help, you'll probably pretty much be stuck paying the towing fees. If you're trying to prove that they were in the wrong, you'll need something solid or it's your word vs theirs. If they can make out the yellow line in the towing company's photo, even if it's blurry then you won't have much of a case.

Pay the fee, get your car back, and write it off.

Unless your time is worthless, you will probably come out ahead.

When the next general meeting comes, recommend the lines be painted with reflective properties.
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Do you not have an assigned parking space at your compex?

I'd suggest in the future keep a flashlight in your car to check for lines when night-parking.
