The Simpsons Renewed through 2005

I don't mind. It's gotten a bit dry lately, but it's still better than the reality TV stuff on FOX nowadays. Besides, if I don't find it funny, I won't watch it, or at least keep watching, and hope something funny happens.

I actually thought Family Guy was slightly better than the Simpsons...

I thought that Family Guy had a different form of humor that needed better writing. It was just a bunch of jokes stuck together that somehow worked to form an actual plot. That requires some good writing to make that work. The Simpsons had a plot and stuck jokes into it. Good, but a bit easier to write.

Did you ever notice the trend on The Simpsons where the beginning of each episode has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the episode? I always found that funny.

Family Guy was just hilarious. I still remember the episode where Stewey was at a Carrot Top show, and Carrot Top told a lame joke. The crowd was totally silent, and then you hear Stewey yell out, "Oh, very funny! Now tell the one that doesn't suck."

Actually, that better describes what I've felt about recent seasons of The Simpsons. That, or comparing it to how The Critic fit its humor into its show.

Wasn't there some episode a while back where in the last half Marge drove the car into some monster truck rally, and Homer showed up doing some Popeye spoof to save her? My god, that was poke-me-in-the-eye-with-a-rusty-fork bad. And the one where they found the body in that drain pipe, and decided to go 'investigate' was pretty bad as well.

Hell, to be unbiassed, the water-shortage/low-flush toilet episode of King of The Hill was four times better than either of those, hands down, and that's was more or less an average episode. I'm pretty much 5/5 or 6/6 in terms of recent Simpsons episodes I've seen that I didn't find anywhere near as funny as the old seasons.

To be fair I was laughing my rear off as soon as I heard the Popyeye music mostly because I thought... Oh no they did not and yep there he goes

I've always like King of the Hill, Mosty because the first 14 Years of my life were spent next to such people in one place or another

It really isn't funny for me...but in thought of what is out there...I'm glad there's something I can peek in and watch and not just simply wondering why the hell I turned on the TV and not a GC or PS2 immediately after that.

Although the Simpsons are not as good as they used to be, I still enjoy their new episodes and look forward to their new seasons.

I also LOVE Futurama. I think that some of its episodes are as good as the Simpsons of yore, but they ARE less consistent.

King of the Hill, IMO, is by far the weakest of the "comedies" on Fox (from Futurama to Malcolm in the Middle), and I despise it. Typical episodes, in my experience, have spent 30 minutes setting up one joke at the very end. While that joke tends to be funny, there's not a lot in the meanwhile to make the show worth watching. Oh well...

That's in part because it's supposed to be a family drama slash comedy. I think it's a good show to watch but not as funny as Simpsons. Then again it's not meant to be.

Yes. It's really two stories in three acts. A smaller story that sets up the start of the main story. It has gotten a lot faster in pacing than the early seasons, but it was present throughout.
