Blech...I have most of their books. It would be nice if they could release books within two years of the original release date. The only ones I'm planning on keeping are the Robotech and Macross II books and Ninjas and Superspies. Everything else is going into the garage sale. It's just not that good a system, IMHO.

Yeesh, I really need a break: I read the word "Palladium" and immediately thought "RIAA-Sponsored M$ DRM." Ui...

I played Robotech a few times but I dont own any Palladium books that Im aware of. I think they make for great reading though. That is what most of my role playing revolved around. Just reading the modules like books.

It's better than D&D's various incarnations, but I still don't like it. If you want a kick-ass D20 system, take a look at Arcanum. It's an old system from the early 1980s. The mechanics are almost a carbon copy of early D&D in some respects (the basics anyway), but it's very different and incorporates a lot of features that began to appear only much later in mainstream games.

And if you just want a kick-ass fantasy RPG, Dragonquest is by far superior to anything I've seen in fifteen years of roleplaying. It was originally published by SPI in late 70s, 2nd Edition in 1981 and then the rights passed to TSR which did an almost completely fucked up 3rd Edition in 1989 (which is how I got intorduced to DQ, and the 3rd Ed still kicked the crap out of everything else). WotC has buried DQ and apparently intends for it to stay that way, but there are ways to get copies. Inquiries by PM if you're interested.

What about Warhammer Fantasy? Did anyone play that game? I really liked the Career system. It provided, me at least, a more solid feel to who my character was.

I spit on anything Palladium. I piss on Kevin Simbieda's ancestors.

The game is crappy, AND the creator is a complete jerk. He sues anyone who says that his game isn't that great. He blackmails reviewers so they remove bad reviews.

And his gaming system is all about Big Mega-Damage!

Plus his books are filled with drawings made in high-school during some boring class. I mean I know I did! Just see the "glitter boy 'schematics'" if you have them. Punk.

All his books are filled with the holier-than-thou attitude. He says that "level-based systems suck because they are too rigid" or that "skill-based systems suck because they are too vague" but his system is 'marvelous' because he says so, when actually it's incredibly crappy and self-inconsistent. The book layouts are a mess.

And from every 10 sentences, 5 end with an exclamation point ! At least 3 ends with double exclamation points ! ! From the remaining two, one always ends with three exclamation points with spaces between them ! ! !

And the idiot can't tell the difference between measures for length, area and volume. GACK! He says that the capacity of a truck is 30 feet! WTF IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN?!?!
