I swear, he called it 'Japimation'

What should his punishment be?
Considering he's bending over backwards to make a correction where there doesn't need to be one, I'd say none: His obnoxious fanaticism is punishment enough.

what the heck did it's ethnicity have to do with your conversation? If someone was insisting it really was Japanese, I could understand making a correction (if someone kept telling someone that Aeon Flux was 'anime', I'd sure as hell enlighten them, but I'm like that about ignorance in general), but this wasn't occuring in the situation I assume, and even then he sure as hell doesn't need to use such an old/insulting pun.

How does this in any way invalidate my argument ? That case deals with consenting adults of a legal age preforming in adult videos. Admittedly the production of such videos is a dubious practice at best, but once you turn he legal age , regardless of your appearance, your free to do as you wish. The records keeping requirements for adult film verifying age and such are nearly air tight , and the industry itself regulates much of its own content in order to avoid the fallout of a 'legit' company inadvertantly producing real underage porn. Excluding the well publicised case of Traci Lords, which can be attributed to a convincing snow job by Miss Lords herself, legitimate producers of adult videos in America have never produced real underage videos.
In the case of the figures produced by Gainax we have an erotic depiction of a minor child, there is no disclaimer of it being an 'older' vervion of Rei Ayanami, so we must conclude that it is Rei , depicted as she was shown during the Evangelion series, as a 14 year old girl. Nasty , sick and disgusting. As to the age of consent in Japan being thirteen , good for Japan , here in much of the nation its 18, anything younger gets you time as Bubba's ass-bitch, or solitary so that the population dosent kill you outright for being a child molester.

Well in a way, Rei would have to be depicted as being 14 (or 15), as she technically died during Third Impact when Instrumentality was rejected in EoE.

Anyway, while it's a lovely looking resin kit, Rei's age makes it rather objectionable in most places.

And I have to listen to my BS detector to the mention of official Eva hentai manga and anime from Gainax. Gainax would NEVER release something like that, as I'm sure Anno would have refused to let them.

The manga are just doujinshi (fan-made manga), and the hentai anime floating around is also fan-made, as it's animated oddly, and with different voices.

There doesn't need to be a disclaimer of her age, artwork is subjective and you can't do anything about it regardless of what you think. You think shes 14 there, I think she can just as easily be 18 or 19 there. Thats the beauty of art

Im not saying you should change your opinion on whether you think its disgusting to you, but due to it being a piece of art, you cannot just say "she's 14 and thats all there is to it."

The one I saw then was a pretty convincing fake/fan-made version, had the Gainax logo and even a rather professional looking box with it.....although I will admit to not scrutinizing it. I have a buddy who's tastes run to the weird at times , especially for anime and he ordered it on a lark , thinking it would be a laugh......we didnt find it to funny when we realized it was animated child porn.............

The ruling covered things that look like children but arent really....that includes models of fictional characters I would think....

Well, the one I have on my HD is only about ten minutes long, and is censored with Chinese subtitles. No such hentai film is listed in the Anime Encyclopedia, and EoE was the last Evangelion title made by Gainax, and everyone involved in Project Eva. has said that nothing Eva related will ever be made.

I know of a link that has pics from my copy of the hentai film. Maybe I'll PM it to you and you can check to see if it looks like the one you saw.

Now why would you have an Eva hentai film on your HD? Lemme guess, its just for educational purposes to show people how "gross" you think it is isn't it? :P

Darth U, I'm also pissed at him because, AFAIK, 'Barefoot Gen' is indeed directed and drawn by the Japanese. It was the dubs that threw him off.

Actually, I wanted to see what it was like, so I downloaded it shortly before Winter Break started.

As to why it's still there: I haven't gotten around to deleting it, and it's kind of interesting in a totally bizarre and disturbing way.

Hemlock: Barefoot Gen is indeed Japanese in origin. It and Grave of the Fireflies are two of the highest regarded anime that feature WWII tragedies in Japan (BG=Hiroshima, GOTF=Firebombing of Tokyo).
