Hate to break it to you, but 1000hp isn't that much. Hell, Japan has cars a hundred or so hp over that and they're still street legal.

Ah; though this article was mostly talking about modified JDMs in the US.

I was really pointing out some examples of true rice rockets, as opposed to the rice burners you see everywhere.

Ah, were they legal on the street though? That would be something.

Yes, they are. I read that one last weekend when I was at home.

i read a Site somewhere that had someone doing a VTEC conversion on the Old Minis! They replace the old engine and tranny with ones from a VTEC Honda. Ever see a classic Mini? They are tiny! Imagine one with that kind of power under its little hood! He sells them for about $20,000.

heres the url http://www.gomini.com/fs/vtec/vtec.htm

this bring up a Dilema for me. Should i
A. Buy a New Cooper S
B. Buy a Converted VTEC Classic Mini

Best use of a Mini anywhere, EVER: the car chase in The Bourne Identity. :)

I know a guy who works as a mechanic at a Toyota dealership. He assures me that when it comes to design for maintenance, the Supra is hella-shit.

didn't see the movie but it did show a bit of the Mini Chase in the preview. Looked like they took it down a flight of stairs leading to a subway. I think the best use of a new Mini goes to Goldmember ( although i dout they can turn into a sub)

I thought that Japanese auto manufacturers had agreed not to manufacture engines with a power output of more than 280 hp, which explains why the 2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R is marketed as having 280 hp when it in fact has 320 hp.

Z06's suck :)

I watched two break at MIR ( Maryland International Raceway, a 1/4 mile drag strip). One never got out of the burnout box, and the other coasted to the end of the strip while I was "racing" it.

One was hauled off on a flatbed, and the other was still in the pits when I left.

Doesn't the same apply to certain other sports cars??
