Im starting to see it now. Im such an idiot. I got my GED and I am hoping that its good enough to get me in the air force. The past few months of my life have really sucked ass. My mother, Im sure some of you may remember, is divorcing and moving to Texas. She is pissed off at me for choosing to stay here. I droped out, for which I feel like a total loser. My job sucks. I just cant wait til im out on my own. I am trying so hard to get recruited. Oh well. Id better just prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

That does not mean the Air Force will accept a GED. By all means I encourage you to get the GED if you are not going to return to school. I just wanted you to be aware, that it might not be good enough for the Air Force.jodathalas wrote:The councilor at the school says that a GED is just like a diploma but only available to people not enrolled on school. She tells me its just a diploma issued by the state.
I just checked the AF website. I looks like you can join but there are the following restrictions.
The answer is yes. However, there are many factors enlisting with a GED as opposed to enlisting with a traditional High School diploma. These are:
You must obtain a higher qualifying score on the Armed Services Vocational
Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).
Under normal circumstances, 1% of our enlisted force accessions are GED
holders during a 1-year period.
GED applicants must wait on slots to become available, and this can
sometimes mean waiting periods of up to one year.

Most Government Jobs don't accept it, the same as a High School Diploma. Note the trick with a GED, is that if you survive two years of college (a GED can get you into college with an SAT to back it up) you have an associates which outwieghs a GED or a Diploma.

Despite what might be said, a GED is not as good as a diploma. Employers look down on them and are much less likely to hire someone with only a GED. I strongly suggest you return to school.

This is true, especially for any job in a non-retail company. There is a slang for GED, Good Enough Diploma. If you do not want to go back to HS, get that AA from a community college and you can strike the reference to HS for most jobs after tha.Sea Skimmer wrote:Despite what might be said, a GED is not as good as a diploma. One of my friends dropped out of high school many years ago, but he earned his GED and later attended a technical school, so he's doing okay now (marital problems aside). I would recommend you finish high school via correspondence or however you can, and then the Air Force should have no problem taking you in...jodathalas wrote:I was gone for quite a while being busy and all. Hey Sean.
Well, when you join the AF, you go through Tech school and they teach you what you need to know for the job selected. Maybe I should go for a small college or something like that before AF. I need to talk to some people first though and find out what would be best. I cant rejoin high school anymore. I do not really want to tell why though. Im sure Sean might know but lets leave it at that. Anyways, g2g.
