That sounds like a myth. It seems highly unlikely that one man in a Humvee would be sent out like that.

And even more unlikely that the BMP-1 wouldn't just blow the HMMWV to kingdom-come.

And I also highly doubt any Republican Guards surrendered to UAVs. Regulars, sure.

Yeah, solider was from the 24th mech. Same unit that had the stuck M1 kill three T-72's. On the last day of the war the division got very strung out in bad weather

The Iowa RPV story is true as well, I've seen the footage, about a dozen guys wildy waving white flags. However it was regular troops, there where no Republican Guard units within range of the battleships one sqaure mile box.

Actually the French crushed the Iraqi opposite in there area of operations and easily accomplished their objectives. There only death was one man who disturbed a dud CBU from an air strike.

Which doesn't exactly say good things about the Iraqi army now does it?

What I find scary about the whole thing (if it is true) is that the Iraqis managed to sneak across a "fortified" border and surprise the British troops.

A: Fight for a leader who you do not support, like or trust against a superior force.

One of the reasons I believe the MoD denial. Kuwait's border is heavily patrolled by the UN, Kuwait's army which has two brigades on it, along with US and British troops. That's on top of the mentioned fences, berms, trenches and in some cases minefields and ground search radars. In addition troops generally have sentries posted to protect them from attacks while training or in camp. They also serve to keep any morons from walking onto the firing ranges.

Actually- I read a report just a few days ago indicating that the US military was starting to install gates and cut holes in the fences- the UN monitors were 'very concerned' because it was a breach of the 91 treaty or some such. Maybe the Iraqis came through there?

In reality if I was those troops I'd have done the same. I would just have hoped for American or Britsh forces so I could at least keep my dignity.

The best action Iraqi soldiers could do is come on our side to kick Maddas out of Iraq
