Im finally gonna rant about gasoline.

I normally do not gripe about gas prices, but they've spiked recently and the price of gas in CA is higher than it has to be for no good reason.

One thing, Id like to point out, is that in CA you HAVE TO DRIVE, there is no mass transit to speak of unless you are right next to BART or Light Rail and your destination is near BART or Light Rail. Busses are a joke.

Until they pay 4X as much as they do now, earning a third of the salary. Then they'll realize the lucky bastards they once were, compared to my little nation at the seaside.

I pay about 1400 won per litre.

1400 won = 1.12 US$

1 gallon = 4.55 litres

About 5$ US per gallon. Can anyone beat that?

For you Canadians (since I am one), it works out to about $1.66 CAD per litre.

Here in the Philippines, it's roughly 21 pesos per liter (premium unleaded)..

1 US$ = 55 pesos so 21 pesos is roughly 0.39 US$ cents

1 gallon = 4.55 liters so it's about $1.78 US per gallon

Is my computation correct?

Ive never been big on ranting about gas, its cheap and I have have a Honda. But today I paid $2.14/gallon. WTF? I dont believe Ive ever paid that much for gas. And that was for plain old 87 at a self service station. The prices are even higher in San Francisco where space is at a premium and its hard to truck the stuff in.

We are totally getting screwed in this state because of ridiculus regulatory requirements for additives in the gas none of the other states have. So we cant buy suprlus from NV for example.

And we have refineries right here! A bunch of them in Benicia!

Waaah, we Americans still have it goddamned easy compared to other nations when it comes to gas prices.

Still, this is America goddamnit, where do we get off paying a price closer to that of the rest of the industrialized world?

Anyway, I think people should start minimizing their fuel consumption like using the car only when needed, car-pooling and the like..
