Erm what about:

Pat Paulson, Bridget Bardot, Shirley Temple, Clint Eastwood, Sonny Bono, Ronald Reagan, Frank "Voice of America" Sanatra and others?

H.G. celeb politicians have been around a very long timeSome of our most beloved classic writers were very politically active.

Natalie Maines spoke out in a way that many people find offensive, and now she is paying the consequences as her offended former fans turn away in disgust. She has a right to express her opinions, and consumers have just as much right to stop supporting her career when they find those opinions offensive.

It would be one thing if she had simply said; "I think the war in Iraq is a terrible thing and I'm opposed to it; I don't believe it's justified." People can have a principled objection to the war and other, reasonable people can respect that. When dissent takes the form of snide personal attacks on the president, and what's more: snide personal attacks on the president , while in a foreign country - as though the speaker hasn't the moral courage to express that view directly to an audience of Americans - most people no longer perceive that as principled objection. They perceive it as unpatriotic and offensive. The Dixie Chicks are learning this the hard way.

If you want a great example of celebs who should keep there yap shut have a read of thishttp://www.barbrastreisand.com/news_statements.html Our leading foreign policy celeb has a lot to lecture us children about
Sudden power is apt to be insolent, sudden liberty saucy; that behaves best which has grown gradually.
