bastards. i have two words for Chirac...MARSHALL PLAN. They would have been starving to death well into the 70's if not for that.

They would've been starving in the 50's, they ruined their country. When my dad went through Europe in the 60's, the people there LOVED Americans, and appreciated what we did for them. Now look at them.

Which poses the question, assuming we decided not to bother losing over 5000 B-17s, B-24s and everything else and millions of soldiers fighting in Europe, where would France be today?

That is, a German-controlled France...

Just because you did someone a favor more than fifty years ago does not turn them into a perpetually indentured servant.
It's not my place in life to make people happy. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to watch me slaughter cows you hold sacred. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to have your basic assumptions challenged. If you want bunnies in light, talk to someone else.

Enleftenment (sorry couldn't help my self) I hope a huge field of graves in France is a little more than a "favor" to you.

Lets not forget that French want to keep to Saddam in power so they can get oil deals. So much for the French moral high ground.

I'm not upset. I've never liked the UN very much and I'd rather see it stay out of this conflict. A very recent Gallup poll showed US public approval of the UN, at its lowest level EVER since they started asking the question in the early 1950's.

It's not the French 'ingratitude' that bothers me- I don't think they should be beholden to us for somethng we did 60 years ago- but what pisses me off is the blatant hypocrisy.

The only reason they don't want war is so they can rake in the cash, and if they had anything to profit by they would sanction the war in a heartbeat. This is only to be expected, but to hear Chirac claim some sort of morale highground over this is infuriating.
