Is it just me?

Is it just me, or have you been receiving massive ammounts of phone call from the Army wanting me to join? They call like every other day.

Yeah, I got a lot of these during my Senior year in HS. If you have caller ID, just don't pick up when they call.

Hmmm, I don't believe I've gotten any phone calls from the Army wanting you to join up. They hardly bring you up into conversation at all, actually, if the truth be told. Sorry.

The U.S. army does telemarketing? Can they actually sign you up over the phone, or do you have to then go in person? ... just concerned for those people that have a hard time saying "no" to people.

Maybe its like the movie "The Last Starfighter", you got a real good score in online Quake and now they want you to join up.

Really? I've gotten several. I suggested plying him with liquor and loose women.

If you want a job in the service that's compatable with the civilian sector, go navy or Air Force. I'm a bit biased, but the uSN is a bit more thorough in teaching ya.

If you don't want them to call anymore, just tell 'em "I'm not iterested, please stop calling" as soon as possible. Never ask for "more information", that just gives them a foot in the door.

Not me. I think they've realized I'd refuse to do anything except pilot a B-2 Spirit. :D

Just tell them to stop calling. If they don't and it's the same service, ask for a supervisor.

I remember laughing like a maniac into the phone and hanging up

Then some other guy called, but he was reaaaal polite. I would've felt guilty about doing something stupid so I feigned interest

he never called me again

I don't think they let anyone below Colonel crew them....

Personally, the B-2 is the last plane I'd want to fly. To cut down on maintenance and airframe life, each one only fly's twice a month for training. Also navigation and the attack run is totally automated. I'd much rather fly an F-16 or A-10. Course, going helicopters in the USMC or US Army is better for most who want to fly for the military, since you don't need to be an officer and can do so while only enlisting for a few years.

The really fun part is the phone calls you contiune to get even though you've already joined. :) Even better, my parents where still getting recruitment phone calls from the Army & Marines while I was away in the Navy.

Nope, never received any phone call from. I only get letters from the army telling me to sign up and they'll pick up my tuition bills, but that's about it.

My senior year I got:

Calls from TWO DIFFERENT Marine recruiters (one for Orlando, one for unincorporated Orange County IIRC...I live outside the city, but my school's inside the limits  ).

A letter from the Air Force asking me to consider the Academy (I was so out of shape I stood no chance of making it in)

A letter from the Coast Guard asking me to consider enlisting (they felt I would make a good yeoman  )

A letter from the Army attempting to recruit me into the infantry (yeah, right...I was 5'9" and 130 lbs at the time. No way I was strong enough to be a foot grunt).

Two of the promotional CDs from the Navy trying to get me to become a pilot (I have great hand-eye coordination. Unfortunately, I have an astigmatism and 20/400 vision...10% of the requirement for pilots and 50% of a RIO's requirement).

I should've known better than to take the ASVAB.

Uhmm.... nope, US military hasn't called me yet. Don't know about the future though. However, as I'm a Canadian, that kind of lowers my chances of receiving that phone call I think.

I've had the Canadian military try to recruit me... the one SGT with the local reserves kept seeing me at various places where they had booths and every time he'd try to get me. We had a good battle of wits every time, more of a game then anything. I'd come up with new excuses to see if he had a response to them :)

Yeah, I remember in high school West Point kept sending me stuff over and over again. My parents vetoed it however.

I've gotten a lot of calls, and the Naval Academy was sufficiently interested to send me on a cool vacation to Annapolis :)

Let's see:

I havn't told off or ignored the Air Force or Navy since I will be trying to join one of them here in the next couple years.

However, there is the Army and USMC:

Used on the Army recruiter:
Face to face at the college: "Uh, I'm on meds, and if you didn't notice I have a bad knee (not bullshit on either actually, however the knee is not very severe and would not affect me in boot camp and I know it)

On the phone: "Uh, you sound pretty hot, what you up to tonight?" (the recruiter simply said: "I...don't think we have use for you." *click* and I havn't gotten a call since)

For mailings: add'em to the pile.

For the USMC:

Face to face: "Trust me you don't want me, I got 157 IQ points on the last IQ test." (the recruiter actually made some jokes about my being about 152 IQ points too smart to be of use, and I'm not kidding about this)

On the phone: "Uh sorry, I'd prefer to NOT be used as a bulletsheild, besides since when did the Marines take gays?" *click*
(no calls since)

No mailings either.

I've carried on some nice long conversations with the Air Force and Navy recruiters both on the phone and face to face though.
