Two women in San Diego discovered quite a surprise in their downtown office building Tuesday: a 5 1/2-foot long Columbian Rainbow Boa in the toilet.

"I went to use the bathroom yesterday, and I noticed that the water levels were higher than they usually are," Stephanie Lacsa, a co-founder of Vertical PR and Marketing, told USA TODAY Network. Lacsa used a plunger on the toilet. When the water level started going down she peered in and spotted the flicker of a tongue and a snake head.

"I thought, 'No way this is possible. My eyes are deceiving me,'" she said.

Lacsa ran out, closed the door and called her business partner, Holly Wells, who had stepped out of the office.

"I said, 'You need to get back here. We have a problem!'"

The women called Animal Services, which sent someone out to retrieve the snake. It was transported to an animal-care facility, according to multiple reports.

"It's the most bizarre, frightening thing I can think of," said Lacsa, who said she has an intense fear of snakes.
