Apparently Havok died around 18 July per his Facebook and the memorials posted there.

Jesus. We had our differences and argued harshly at times (to the point where he banned me on facebook) but he was also a nice guy (he helped me back when I was a dumb 15 year old starting out here) and I'll always remember that.

I hadn't talked to him since his 40th birthday. He took the ribbing about joining those of us in the ranks of 40-somethings like a good sport. And speaking of sport, he took great delight in mercilessly busting my balls every time my once beloved Chargers choked in a big game (which was all the time). His takedown of John Scalzi was the stuff of legend, as was his reaction to Prop 8. He could be surprisingly jovial while kneecapping his antagonists. To him it was all good fun.
He'd be laughing his ass off right now if he knew my plan to have a few Dos Equis in his honor is shot to shit because I'm all out of limes.

He was a dude totally unafraid to be himself. Like Elfdart mentioned, his Prop 8 thread here was brilliant.

It's been a very long time since I posted here, but Havok's untimely passing has hit me pretty hard, and I want to express my condolences.
