Remove yourself from telemarketer's phone lists!

That is, if you're in California, like me :P

Puts you on a list that telemarketers shouldn't call.

Only if there was something like this for spam...

Just use a recording of the not-a-working-number message on your answering machine. Stops this sort of thing just as well, AND you don't end up on anymore lists than you have to.

I think it's more fun to play with the telemarketers.

Having only a cell phone, I don't have problems with telemarketers...

"Cause if they did call you on a cell, they would have to blacklist that number.

Definetly. I use my Ultimate Awnuld Soundboard on them. Great results.

I have those Ahnuld soundclips too. Do I just make shortcuts for my keyboard to use them? How do you do it?

Download the Ultimate Arnold soundboard from somewhere. I think it was on the old Opie and Anthony website, but I don't even know if that's still running. Worse comes to worse, I could throw it to you over AIM or something.

It's got the most soundclips out of any Awnuld board I've seen. It has them broken down by the movie, and it's got plenty in each section that you're not gonna find in the usual variety of Awnuld soundboards.

I wish we had this do-not-call list in Canada. Next we need some *good* anti-spam legislation, like that state in the U.S., where you can sue people for sending spam mail that hides the sender's real address.

S-u-e? As a Canadian, I am unfamiliar with this strange new concept.

Seriously...Canadians seem to have it culturally ingrained that it is grossly unacceptable to whine using the legal system as a bullhorn. We're getting better at tying up our legal system with frivolities and get-rich-quick schemes, but we have a long way to go before we reach the level of social and mental complexity that allows Americans the remarkable imaginative insight to think to demand money from people for the inexcusable crime of creating otherwise harmless products that, if you're really stupid or determined, you can kill yourself with.
Note: I'm semi-retired from the board, so if you need something, please be patient.

As an Australian, I dont think I've ever been hit my a mass telemarketer before. Sure some of the local realastate businesses phone asking if you want sell/buy. But that is normally fairly rare, and its just somebody siting by a phone working their way down a list of possible clients, which is normally in the 'immediate'(or what passes for immediate in Australia) area.

The law isn't done to fill courtrooms, its done to keep businesses honest.

It simply labels typical spam as being illegal, and that the recipients of such spam are entitled to claim damages. When the sender suddenly has to give you $100 if they don't play by the rules, they suddenly stop sending the spam, or at least follow a real opt-out program.

The blacklist works similarly, people can still ignore the list, but you can sue them if they do.

This isn't twisting some law to get yourself $10 million for spilling coffee. Follow the law and nobody goes to court, just like every other law. This is still "Canadian".
