Forgive me if I like DST.
What, you can't figure out how to set your alarm an hour earlier? :P

Ahem.... When they turn the clocks Back in the fall, the people on night shift are being forced to work a full Hour overtime Without Pay.

Oooooh, I hadn't thought about that. I'm really glad Arizona doesn't switch now. Although, last night I could have charged them for an hour that I didn't actually work since we would have jumped forward. :D

It would suck for the people whose schedules rotate so they don't get the switch on/switch off sides of DST.

Without pay? Are you sure where you live that is illegal or not that you work while not being allowed pay? It is illegal where I live. You should talk to a lawyer about that.

I hate it too. I lost an hour of sleep last night, and when I wake up at 6:30 AM on the weekdays, it will feel like 5:30 AM, and I'm usually more irritable waking up at that time, even if I got the same amount of sleep.

On the plus side, I can enjoy sunlight at 8 in the evening.

How can you prove it, when you clock in at 11 and clock out at 6... even if the 6 should be 7?

Is daylight savings really all that hard? You perhaps lose an hour of sleep for what, one day? If you all hate daylight savings so much why not move to China? They don't practice it and as an added benefit, the time in that country is the same (never mind the fact that China itself spans at least 3 time zones).
EducAsian wrote:Time Change / Time Zones: There is only one time zone in China, and it is eight hours ahead of GMT, so if it is 12:00PM GMT, then it is 8:00 PM in China. China is twelve hours ahead of New York City, and 15 hours ahead of Los Angeles during Standard time, and 13 hours and 16 hours ahead respectively during Daylight Savings Time. China does not employ daylight savings time. In addition, despite its vast size, China is all in one time zone, based on Beijing time.

As long as they all aren't moving to Arizona. :D

Now I'd like to take this space to make my plug for us all switching to 24hour (aka Military Time). In this modern world more people are working at all times of the day and some dangerous mistakes can be made by people mistaking 0300 for 1500 because they weren't sure if it were AM or PM.

My personal favorite is Noon and Midnight. Which one is 12:00PM and which is 12:00AM? :) Hint: It's really more accurate to use 12:00 Noon and 12:00 Midnight becuase you can make arguements for either when using AM/PM although it seems that Noon is usually considered 12:00PM.

Thanks to this daylight time garbage, the board is now an hour behind my timezone. It annoys me when every single post is more than an hour old.

Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either. :P

I hate it too! And it doesn't even apply here! In fact it doesn't affect me at all! But I hate it anyway, as moral support for my fellow SD.netters!

Can't you fix this in your profile by adjusting your timezone. I know it doesn't allow for specific TZ on DST but it would make your time match the board.

Or, you could just set your timezone on Zulu time.

Payroll can just adjust the number of hours on your check. If someon is actually skimming a hour then you have grounds for a serious complaint, cause you probably are not alone.
