I think that if you are threatened, or your property is threatened, you should have the freedom to defend yourself and property in any way possible.

You work you butt off and earn the money to afford such things, then why shouldn't you have the right to protect it??

How about stealing your kids big wheel?
That's a tough one, I'd say for petty theft I should be allowed to beat him senseless with a ballbat or lead pipe on general priciples, but for anything over say $1000 or so, shoot the fucker.

Lusankya: Deal!
Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either. :P

Will that be adjusted for inflation over time?

Seriously though, I think there needs to be some caution, otherwise kids getting their frisbee back from your yard need body armor. :-)

If your doing so from behind a covered and concealed position, and there are no witnesses besides the hapless thief wannabe, then I'd say your objective has been met, as the thief wannabe has mentally connected the attempted theft of your vehicle with large amounts of pain. If you're caught, then it's between the thief wannabe, you, and the police (assuming the knucklehead calls them, which seems unlikely).

In my state, if someone breaks into your house you had better not shoot them in the back...... if you do shoot them, you had better make sure they fall inside your house.

I heard a police officer say once, they had better be inside your home and there has to be a clear "threat" to your life or you can be charged.

Also, if they do live they can sue you for damages. Can you believe it? A person breaks into your home, you protect yourself, and the guy can sue you if you ""mame"" him.

Only in Missouri. ROFL!
It happened in West Virginia too... The burgler escaped and sued the old man that shot him in the leg.

I'm a strong believer in the South Park rule.

If someone enters your home, just scream 'OH MY GOD HE'S COMING STRAIGHT FOR US!', then beat him to unconsciousness. Death, if he had some sort of weapon. I'm sorry, but I'm not merciful when it comes to dangers to Tevar and the kittens.

And while SirNit is getting out the 6ft wood staff, I'll be loading the squirrel rifle.

And since to get inside, said intruder would be inside a remodeled 1900's house where the apartments are reached by entering a side door and going up stairs, when I shoot him centermass with the 410 shotgun filled with #3 squirrel shot, he'll still be inside the building.
