Elvis versus the Beatles

It's hard to imagine rock as we know it now without either the Beatles or Elvis, but I think I have to give the nod to the Beatles, partly because their music, I think, has aged better.

Mediocre individually, yes (I can't hear John Lennon's "Imagine" without wanting to vomit), but as a group they were something that transcended their individual talents.

McCartney was and always has been the best of the group. Lennon was too hippish for me and went out with Yoko Ono, Ringo did the voices for Thomas the Tank Engine (actually, I loved that) and George, well, I don't have anything against him.

George was the forgotten Beatle. His real talent, though, was as a producer, which he became after the group broke up.

He did have alcohol problems at one point didn't he? I could be getting mixed up with someone else, my Beatles history is crap compared to my Liverpudlian father's.
