Did Mike Price (Alabama) deserve to be fired?

Did Mike Price (Alabama) deserve to be fired?
Is attending a strip club grant enough cause to be fired as head coach? I'm still having trouble seeing why Price deserved to be fired, even if his conduct is something considered sinful according to my Christian doctrine.
They have no evidence that he slept with two women, the only thing they have proof of is that he went to a strip club.
I think he should sue to university for taking away his livelihood, reputation, and his financial security. ]
Am I not seeing the whole picture here?
Anyway, Price may have new career opportunity soon, Georgia Tech will no doubt be getting rid of Chan Gailey after we finish < .500 next year. I'm sure Price could get the Tech job if he really wants it.

Yes, simply for being stupid. His behavior by itself isn't bad, in my opinion, but that being coupled with the fact that Alabama, in the state it's in, does NOT need a misbehaving coach right not, the sacking is deserved.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

If his contract had a "public image of the University" clause (and most coaches' contracts do), then he can be let go for doing something that would diminish the university's image.

He didn't deserve that job and its ridiculous salary in the first place. Of course, that's the way I feel about all of these outlandishly overpaid college sports coaches in the US, so take that for what it's worth.

Irritates me as well. A baseball player, a person that has no value to society as a whole, get paid more in one year than the president and his entire cabinet.

Indeed. A typical medical researcher in the United States gets roughly $60,000 per year. A typical baseball player gets roughly $2-3 million per year.Irritates me as well. A baseball player, a person that has no value to society as a whole, get paid more in one year than the president and his entire cabinet.
In other words, we are told that a baseball player is worth more to society than FORTY medical researchers.

I agree with Wong on that he should not get that salary, but I also don't feel that it's right that one should be fired for defiling some university's position.. I mean, really, if it has to be on the clause for coaches, it SHOULD be on the contract clause for professors, as well, I would think.

Re: Did Mike Price (Alabama) deserve to be fired?
Don't think any of us are seeing the whole picture. If I were a betting man, I'd say there was much more to the story than what we've been told. My guess is that all those allegations were an excuse for Bama to fire Price -- they probably didn't like something about how he intended to coach and recruit for the football team. Can't fire somebody for that though -- at least not right away...Lord MJ wrote:Is attending a strip club grant enough cause to be fired as head coach? One could say that about nearly any form of entertainment. Entertainers make far too much money. Look at the multi-million dollar salaries sucked up by Hollywood types, who then feel that everyone needs to hear their opinions on politics to boot. Anyone come to mind?Darth Wong wrote:He didn't deserve that job and its ridiculous salary in the first place. Of course that assumes that people are paid based on thier value to society. They are not, they are paid based on market demand and their ability to fatten the pockets of thier bosses.
