Need Windows XP Computer Help...

Post by Exonerate »

Ok, this afternoon, I just booted up my computer. This was when the first sign of trouble started. The startup was EXTREMELY slow, and briefly punctuated by spikes in CPU usage. I did a bit of searching, and found that the process "DPC Time Placeholder" was the one that was eating up all the processing power. I checked Google, and there's a M$ Article on it at http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... -us;810876

Unfortunately, that does nothing to solve my problem. I also noticed that it seems to be linked with my connection to the LAN; when I disconnect it, the problem halts. However, when it is reconnected, the problem arises. Also, Internet access from that computer is impossible. I'm currently typing this on another computer. I've already tried a system restore to prior to when the problem surfaced, but there was no change in the situation.

Any suggestions regarding this would greatly help....

Err, ok... It seems to be working again, by some miracle...

MUST BE THE WORK OF GOD! ITS A MIRACLE!

Ok, I'm just kidding... After I posted the message, I disconned the cable, terminated a few programs, then turned the computer off... Reconnected the cable, then turned it back on, and now it seems to be working.

Sorry for the hassle guys. If a mod would please close this thread...

Since you said please.. :)
