I'm half wondering if I should zip the link of to my old instructor to see how much he will explode over those woeful stances and terrible stylings

Hell if you just copied the animations you see on EQ videos you have a fair chance of beating those smucks

That is the first time I have seen anybody just slip and fall over. While they were standing there. Just standing there. I know that is really random, but what the hey?
He didnt just randomly fall over, the mage cast a death spell and hit him with a ping-pong ball :D

You know, I could probably slay those bastards with a three-inch foam dagger. They're just running around like numbnuts thwacking everything in sight.

Having done some LARPing on my own, I have to say (on pain of seeming elitist) that this is complete and utter shite. The environments sucked, the clothing was pathetic, the attempts at suspension of disbelief, whatever they may have been, were beyond ridicule. In short, a travesty of all that proper LARP is.

I'm not saying people shouldn't play it if they like it. I am, however, defending the concept of Live Action Role Playing, in which one plays a role.

An Orc. These usually are difficult to kill, but not impossible.

Dhieldin Mithgôl, dark elf swordsman.

Again, people should be allowed to play what they want, just as people are allowed to watch what they want. But there is a certain difference between LARP and LARP, just as there is a difference between, say, the Matrix and Debbie Does Dallas.

So, Eleas, any movies of what a proper LARP should look like?

No, just pictures. :)

Actually, talking about "a proper LARP" like I did was pretty stupid. I'm just so tired of LARPs that look crappy for no reason. If you don't have some serious pyrotechnics, IMHO you shouldn't walk around with "lightning bolts". Think about it - what would a true lightning bolt do to a human being, especially one in armor?

It's like when last I played. At the end of each day, we held a Twilight Ritual to celebrate the night. The difference this time was that I concluded this ritual by mocking our kyerari (high priest) Valenduin, concluding my posturing by challenging him and attempted to slay him with magic. Valenduin, however, was far more powerful, and my character had known this, which was why he had counted on the ritual to strengthen him. It, well, didn't work. :)

In conclusion, we had planned that whole scene loosely, on my initiative. I knew I wasn't going to win, but we thought it would make for such a great scene that it didn't matter. And it worked, in character, and that is how it should be, IMO.

By the same principle, I wouldn't play a macári (warrior) unless I had the knowledge I have on kendo and iaido. If any of our warriors got into trouble, he or she would either haul ass back to the camp or stay and fight... BUT, here's the kicker, the fight would be meaningless if it didn't look good. Which means posture, weight of weapons, and even language has to be factored in. I'm not expert at our own, but I'm still working on it.

True. Just curious - do you possess a real katana? If so, is it an antique?

Indeed though I have to admit I'm not as good as I used to be due to lack of pratice and like I said I left it behind hmm five months ago now? But I keep up my Stick pratice though I need a new one due to an accident whereby it fell over some how and a law-mower ran over it... Ahh well not a problem, I'll get a replacement in a week or two
Play fair. :)
Ahh so none of this
Image?

None of this?

And I guess you mean none of these
