Fine by me, most Soviet era warships, and especially the Udaloy, don’t hunt using passiv, since there passive sets suck.

Instead they hunt at 25 knots blasting away with one of the most powerful active sonar's in existence. Once a target is located the SS-N-14's and Ka-27 smother it with multiple torpedoes, joined by over the side 533mm.

Even 688i's would not willingly close beyound 15,000 yards, and the sonar is good out to over 22,000. Buti f you stand of and missile it the SA-N-9's come into play.
