GOD that movie was so fucking dark and depressing, I don't think there was a single happy moment in the entire film, even the begiining when they're frolicking on that beach, there's a crippled officer and a bunch of burnt out men.
Great movie, but it had to be made in Europe, they seem to specialize in dark depressing dramas. Give me some hollywood faux brightness any day.
Wherever you go, there you are.

Boys In The Band - I was 14 when I saw this, knew I was gay, and was totally depressed because I thought, "If gay men are like that, I would rather be dead." Luckily, 24 years later, I know better.
And the Band Played On - Pissed me off more than depressed me. This movie reflected the early years of AIDS, and the initial governmental apathy during the early 1980s because it was primarily effecting the gay community. Thank you Ronnie Reagan
It's My Party - About a guy who is dying of AIDS and decided to have an Irish Wake, of sorts, before overdosing to die "on his terms."
Shindler's List - My mother was a concentration camp survivor, so this one hit home.

No, I wasn't recruited, I was born gay (almost became Catholic as a teenager just to get sex).
Twisted, but functioning
