Then again, I've read about that much of the Darkover series, at it was a butt vacuum too.

*shrug*
The Tuchuks started out based on one of Norman's first novels... but they've dropped the worst of the sexism over the past 10-15 years.

Scary but true.. the Tuchuks are going PC.

What has Norman written, aside from Gor??

(I think he once wrote a nonfiction book.... unsurprisingly, it was about S&M)

Okay, I kind of get what you're saying, but how can the director's cut be a "cut" and the other be a shorter heavily edited version? Or is there a normal Japanese release, the director's cut, and an American release?

Well, there are twenty books in the Darkover series, plus anthologies. Some of the books MZB actually wrote, and she's a good author. The others were collections of words that fulfilled contract obligations. People who can acknowledge that have real lives--ones who can't are the Darkover equivlant of fanboys (but the percentage of females outnumbers males).

Hrm... all I know is that they had a camp full of woman in rabbit fur and leather bikini things and men in loincloths. And they tried unsuccessfully to kill, butcher, cook, and eat a pig (the pig bit one and ran away, and I don't know what happened to it). Fun folks, really. :)

Well, the one I read some of was sitting on someones coffeetable and I had an hour to burn. It didn't impress me at all.

Actually it's very little sex and just a lot boob shots. In other words it doesn't even count as a soft-porn title, and action scenes are boring and sleep inducing.
While I agree with you on the actual quality of Wicked City, it's quite a lot more explicit than you're letting on. There's the freaky sex scene at the beginning, something very much like tentacle rape later, and a few other instances. If I'm remembering correctly; it's been like six years since I saw it.

The Hypereon books by Dan Simmons have some good sex in 'em. Plus they're dang good all by themselves.

Snowcrash by Neal Stephenson has a scene in it that's a bit pedo (she's like, 15-16) but really hot. And the book is also a good read.

Let's see... Also check out the work of Michael Swanwick. He's one of the premier short story sci-fi writers of current times, (In 1999 three of the six short stories nominated for the Hugo were his) and many of his stories contain instances of bizzare, mind altering, or evil sex. Check out his short story collection Tales of Old Earth or his novel The Iron Dragon's Daughter.
Also check out the short story anthologies Redshift (ed. Al Sarrantonio) and Dangerous Visions (ed. Harlan Ellison)

Yes... the Non-Fiction book was a general "how to please your master", and listed many different scenarios for B&S/S&M lovers to act out. :kill:

On the subject of sci-fi/fantasy books with sex in them. I suggest trying out the last couple of Laurel K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series. I like the whole series but she doesn't really get that much into sex until the later ones.

If you'd rather not jump into the end of a series Laurel K. Hamilton's other more recent series of books has a lot of sex in it. So far the two titles in that series are A Caress of Twilight and A Kiss of Shadows. I may not have listed them in order just so you know.

Here's yet another disturbing revelation: According to Amazon.com's "author profile" of John Norman, he's a married man with three children!:shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

This is quite strange, since I always assumed the sexism in a novel to be an indicator of the author's sexual dysfunction. Of course, he could have written most of his novels before he was married. He took a long break after the 25th Gor book IIRC. However, this fails to explain why a 26th one came out yesteryear.

Well as Anne Mc Caffrey said, He's just a Perv because like Lewis Carrol, & Nabakov, Norman used to teach at an All Girls High School, before he started writting those books. At least he only wrote about what he wanted to do to his students..... (Lewis Carrol is severe scum for being a Child Molester/Pornographer) .....(Nabakov as far as I know had no "relations" with any of his students, and at least made Humbert so dispicable of a character rather then a hero.)

Regarding Lewis Carrol:

Anyway, the three versions of Kite are basically the original Japanese release, the original heavily edited American release, and then the slightly less edited director's cut.

I thought John Norman was a psychiatrist, not a schoolteacher.
