The AVERAGE player in rugby will be expected to play for two 40 minutes halves (plus injury time). Generally players will only be replaced if injured or if the coach feels a "boost" is needed in a certain area. Once players are pulled they cannot go back on the field.Robert Treder wrote: A heavily-used hockey player in the NHL will get about 15-20 minutes ice time in a game, which doesn't sound like much, but it can be extremely grueling.
While you might say that a rugby player has to have more endurance, you can't really say that he's more fit in general. What "fitness requirement" is a hockey player lacking? Strength? Speed? Agility?
