Does anyone know of well written and informative books on the Late Qing Dynasty down to... shoot initial colonization of the area (though that is not necessary)?

What do you define as initial colonization? The concessions after the First Opium War? The second? Or the Boxer Rebellion? China was never actually turned into a colony (though some of its protectorates were of course).
