If it's Brownsville, buy a flak jacket and see if Skimmer or Shep will lend you some ordinance.

Otherwise the rest of Brooklyn is excellent to fairly decent.

Well, this is a $15 martini type of woman we're talking about so I don't think the place is going to be anywhere that needs body armour. I'll still have to see where exactly it is though.

I hereby add the folowing attraction: A Russian restaurant named Stolovaya (Столовая), located at 813 Avenue U, Brooklyn, NY.

I have made an aquaintance with that establishment today, and all I can say is WOW. If you want to get some real Russian food, go there (my god, they even had real kvas! Hell, you can't fide real kvas IN RUSSIA, but you can find it there. And don't forget the pelmeni, the real Siberian ones, with three kinds of meat: lamb, beef, and pork).

There's a ton of great places to eat in Brooklyn. I can't remember the names*, but there's a diner style place that serves greasy-gravy truck stop type food. They also show B-movies from the '60's some nights. Great place. There was also a great Thai place, with a rowboat and bucket sculpture in the lobby. Great Pad Thai, and Gom Tuk (??? that curried coconut-milk soup with chicken and peppers, excellent). Next time I talk to my sister, I'll ask her where they are.

hmmm sounds good. I will have to try it the next time I visit. Have you ever been to the Russian curio shop in Manhatten, on 14th street, between 2nd and 3rd? Check it out sometime. Pretty cool.

* EDIT: The diner place is called Relish, and it's at Wythe & N 3rd.
The Thai place is Plan Eat Thai, at N 7th (or 8th) and Barry.
Both are in the Williamsburg neighborhood.
