It was just a fundraiser. Thats all these laws really are. get over it. There is no such thing as sanity anymore. Its like Ciggerrette taxes, they tell you its to stop you from smoking, but they whine and bitch when people stop smokng and thier tax revenues go down.

No better than street corner dealers. at least they are nicer to you when you give them your money

Is this common in USA? I had no idea the police could fine for underaged drinking or put you in jail, even if you haven't done anything "stupid".

A foul situation the US has indeed.

Think of it; you can be in university and underage. *Shivers.*

nice to live in germany where you can drink stuff like beer and whine at 16 and schnaps at 18.
Do you live in the same germany I live in? I think it is beer* and other soft alcoholic stuff at 14 and harder drinks at 16.

Of course everyone I know started with schnaps at 14 and moved to beer when older, it´s not like it is really enforced over here. We were all drinking in a bar (How to translate Biergarten?) at that age (14/15).

*German beer, not that brown water reportetly avaiable in the US.
My state has more privately owned firearms then the German armed forces, so HA. Forget going out to get drunk, I can go out in the woods at 15 and shoot things with an M16, which I've found to be far more fun then getting drunk.
*Blinks.*

No it's not! :?

And surely the German armed forces wouldn't have many privately owned guns at all?

You usually aren't going to go to jail for just being drunk underage. If you get a real asshole of a cop you can get tossed in the drunk tank overnight. Generally you'll either get a warning or a fine.

Drinking and Driving and shit like that is a whole nother matter.

Perhaps the wording is a bit off, but you know what I mean.

I find thing easier to enjoy things when the only thing that is impaired is my hearing, somewhat.
