Well I'm still without power (posting from my parent's computer) now going ont he 18 hour mark. The best part is the first line from BGE was that power would be restored in "4-7 days." In other words on the quick side of things I've got two more days of warm beer.

I'm still without power as well. I hear it may be another several days before I get it back. I'm at Radio Shack on part time, using their computer. Dammit this is a bother.

Still, I suffered no damage to my house, which makes me luckier than some.

Oh, and it seems that Florida's "Hurricane Shield" is still working. We send the storms to the rest of the country now, so you can experience our fun.

It's been over a day since the effects of the hurricane hit my area, and the most damage I saw was a lot of fallen tree branches and twigs on the roads, and some power lost in areas around me.

Power went out at roughly 3 pm Thursday. Just got it back a few hours ago (Saturday evening). Didn't suffer any damage, and neither did most of the people I know (most of those who did only suffered minor damage). 95% of Hampton Roads was powerless, and I only know one family who had power throughout the whole thing. From driving around, it looks like most of the residential areas are still in the dark, though a lot of commercial places on main power lines seem back up. Some won't have power for roughly a week.

Down in North Carolina, it looks like the beaches on Hattaras Island we go to have been wiped pretty clean. Sand dunes completely blown away, and our favorite beach area (Frisco) is now a new canal cutting through the middle of the island. I wonder how much repair will be done and how it'll look when we go next summer.
Later...

Our power just came on.

Several things of note:

1.) Zaia kicks ass  She was nice enough to let me stay at her place
for a while.

2.) MY CARDBOARD PANZER IS GONE!!!!

3.) I've discovered you can stick your finger into a car radiator fan and still
keep your finger.

I would just like to say I despise power outages...at NIGHT.

It's such a wonderful thing to be up and reading to suddenly view you're in pitch black glory with no flashlights or candles at the time.

I've been trying to get a DELMARVA SDnetter get together started with
Peringius, but he hasn't replied yet, probably because he has no power
yet. Basically, why not make it a Delaware/Maryland/Virginia get together
as no point in Maryland is more than one hour from another state?

True enough, if we can figure out where and when (preferably highway accesible and weekend) I'm definately up for a meet and greet.

Sure...though like Wilkens said Highway accessible(though honestly I'd almost prefer DC...sue me, I know the city well enough and my car dies on me) and weekend, I'm all up for it.
